Quiz #1
Chapter 3: The Cell
True or False
1.) Ribosomal subunits are produced in the cytoplasm
2.) The nuclear envelope dissolves during metaphase
3.) Proteins are packaged and processed in the smooth endoplasmic reticulum
4.) Resting membrane potential is the difference between the charge average of the entire cell’s interior versus the charge average of the entire extracellular fluid
5.) Lysosomes are responsible for neutralizing substance such as alcohol and formaldehyde
6.) During translation the ribosome scans for the start codon. The start codon’s base sequence is GCG
7.) Only one protein can be produced at a time from a single mRNA strand
8.) Introns are non coding sections of our genes not involved in the translation process
9.) Molecules are the smallest living units in our body
10.) The centrosome of human cells contains its own set of DNA and RNA
11.) The mitotic spindle is composed of
12.)Translation of mRNA into a protein is performed by ___________ in the __________
13.)Which of the following can pass through the plasma membrane by means of simple diffusion
14.) An anticodon is composed of ___________
15.) What would be the sequence of the following DNA strands complimentary mRNA molecule: AGCTGCA
16.) A functional mRNA molecule made up of 210 nucleotide bases would produce a protein composed of how many amino acids?
17.) A protein is packaged and processed in the rough endoplasmic reticulum and destined for export from the cell. After leaving the Rough ER in a vesicle, where will this protein travel next
18.) A newly transcribed mRNA molecule will more closely resemble the _________ (with the exception of Uracil bases instead of Thymine bases)
19.) Which of the following cells would display a highly developed smooth endoplasmic reticulum
20.) Left unchecked, a large ingestion of sodium would make the extracellular fluid ________, causing a net flow of water ______________the cell.
Is there any way you can you please post the answers? I know we discussed it in class yesterday, but I think I missed when we went over a couple.
Done! It is in the practice quiz section. If you want one of the questions explained again just ask.
Will the tests consist of questions like these, or will the tests consist of more complex/harder questions?
I think they will be pretty similair, if anything the test questions may be a tad simpler. They will still make you think, but I think it is safe to say that everyone who has read the material and understood the quizzes, practice and in class, will do really well on the tests.
